The CFR is committed to actively promoting and ensuring equal access and participation in the sport of rugby and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, religion, age, economic status, sexuality, ability or ethnicity. As Cambodia does not currently have any sports included as part of the national curriculum, they are working with the Ministry of Education, Youth & Sport to introduce rugby into state schools across the country by 2015. Their development program also includes a deaf school & orphanages, where the children would not normally have access to team sports.
The CFR’s Grassroots Program is one of the most important programs that the CFR operates. Since May 2012 they have introduced over 500 children to the sport of rugby through The CFR Grass Roots Rugby program, giving them a sense of belonging within the growing rugby fraternity. Currently they work with eleven schools and organizations in Phnom Penh, including Krousar Thmey,* a school for the hearing impaired in Phnom Penh.
